The Art of Mahjong
Founded by Lauren Casey, Southwest Florida Mahjong began with a shared love of the game. Lauren learned alongside Catherine Lubner, both guided by the original SWFL Mahjong Queen, Betty Rubenstein. They were soon joined by Susan Frantz, who grew up watching her mom play. Over years of games and tournaments, their love of Mahj grew into a community rooted in both skill and connection.
On their podcast “At the Table with SWFL Mahjong”, they talk about Mahjong and everything you would expect to hear around a Mahjong table: strategy, stories, a little gossip, healthy living, and plenty of laughs. They also create the kind of Mahjong experiences they want to attend themselves. Each event is thoughtfully curated to feel elevated, welcoming, and engaging, where strong play and great company come together in a setting that feels polished and special. Whether you are learning for the first time or refining your strategy, the goal is to offer a space that is both social and refined.
From Naples and Bonita Springs to Fort Myers, you are invited to learn, play, and connect.

Our approach starts with a focus on understanding the pace of play, without the distraction of the card. This allows new players to grasp the fundamentals and flow of the game. Once you’re comfortable, we introduce the card in Mahjong 101, enhancing your strategic play.
We emphasize fun and encouragement throughout the learning process, making sure everyone feels confident and excited to join in. Our goal is to foster a love for Mahjong while building friendships along the way!
